The Mediaeval Baebes have established a legendary reputation for themselves for reviving ancient text and song and turning historical fantasy into reality for the pleasure of a modern audience. Their first album, Salva Nos, released in 1997 was certified Silver within weeks of release and was Virgin Classics fastest selling debut album. The bands 1998 follow up, Worldes Bylsse, blazed into the Classical Charts at No.1 to widespread critical acclaim. July '05 saw them return with a brand new studio album, Mirabilis, which is already considered to be their finest work to date.

A provocative collective of beautiful maidens, the Baebes comprise of seven young women vocalists, composers and instrumentalists - from all corners of the globe, who delight in their reputation for wantonness whilst singing songs from an age of innocence. Beautiful and bedazzling, magical and mysterious, the Baebes will seduce you with their interpretation of mediaeval music and poetry and transport you to an enchanting world very far from our own. They sing in an impressive array of languages ranging from Latin, Middle English, Mediaeval French, Italian and German to the more quaint and obscure Cornish and Mediaeval Welsh. In addition to their repertoire of traditional Mediaeval songs, the Baebes also take texts from the period and set them to their own compositions, often branded with the band's inimitable - and sometimes dark - sense of humour. From moving tales of unrequited love, musings on humankind's vanity and mortality and chilling stories of the darker side of faerieland, to humorous accounts of alcohol-induced misadventures, the Mediaeval Baebes bring vividly to life the preoccupations of Mediaeval times.

Looking back across the band's ten year history, it is studded with diverse achievements: as well as recording five magical albums of which three reached the top of the Classical charts - a proud feat for any band - the girls have also toured the UK, Europe, the USA and Canada, worked with the infamous film director Ken Russell and last year recorded the score to the prestigious BBC TV drama 'The Virgin Queen', broadcast with huge success both in the US and the UK. The enthusiastic reception of the band's contribution to the series resulted in the release of the OST as an album.

Since then, the girls have been busy filming their first live DVD and completed a hugely successful cathedral tour of the UK in December 2006 The band's musical talent, combined with the Baebes' individual personalities, provocative and intelligent sense of humour, and above all a passion for the music they create, make them absolutely unique...Oh, and they look pretty good too...Enjoy.
