Things to do and Places to Visit in Cambridge
Cambridge is an historic university town located in East Anglia. It attracts visitors from all over the World and is an excellent destination for a leisure break or a longer holiday.
There are many attractions for tourists to visit and choosing just five has been quite a challenge.
1 Visit the Colleges
The University is made up of colleges. No visit to Cambridge is complete without a tour of the colleges. There are colleges dating from each era since the creation of the university and everyone has their favourites. Popular colleges to visit include:
St John’s College was founded in 1511. Look out for the School of Pythagoras and the Bridge of Sighs
Trinity College was founded in 1546 of particular interest to visitors are the Great Court (scene of the Great Court Run ) and the Wren Library
Kings College was founded in 1441 and attracts many visitors each year especially to see the Kings College Chapel.

2 Punting with Scudamores
Punting is a long standing tradition in Cambridge. Relaxing in a punt on a summer’s afternoon is a most enjoyable experience. The boats are ideally suited to the shallow riverbeds in the city. 3 Cambridge Summer Music Festival
Running from mid-July to the beginning of August each year, this festival is Cambridgeshire’s biggest festival of classical music. Not only is the music fabulous, one of the attractions for visitors and locals alike is that many of the concerts take place in some of the most beautiful historic buildings in Cambridge. 4 Fitzwilliam Museum
This is a world-class museum with collections of antiques and art housed in beautiful buildings. Mark Fisher, Britain’s Best Museums and Galleries described it as “.. a museum collection of beauty, quality and rarity.” It ranks highly amongst places to visit in Cambridge.
Enjoy antiquities and artefacts from Greece, Rome, Egypt, the Ancient Near East and Cyprus as well as masterpieces from the 14th century to the present day.

5 Cambridge Folk Museum
Find out about the life and times of Cambridge by visiting the Cambridge and County Folk Museumon Castle Street. This social history museum gives an insight into the way of life of local people through the ages.
And finally, why not Hire a Bike? It seems as if everyone rides a bike in Cambridge and it is a fabulous way to see the city close up.
