Restaurants and Places to Eat in London
London is a vibrant and exciting place to live or visit. You can stroll through Hyde Park before breakfast, spend the morning shopping in the exclusivity of Bond Street or the bustle of Oxford Street and then watch the World go by from a capsule on the London Eye.
All of this is bound to make your hungry. If you are new to the city, the choice of places to eat in London can be daunting. There are literally thousands of restaurants, bistros, brasseries, bars, cafes and pubs. If you are resident in London, finding somewhere new to eat can be a joy. Either way, this guide offers some ideas for restaurants in London for you to try.
Let’s start with the spectacular, the extraordinary and the unforgettable experience of dining at The Ritz. With the television appearances of celebrity chefs and the whirring wheels of the PR machines launching the latest trendy restaurant, it can be easy to overlook some of the established London hotels.

It would be a travesty to overlook The Ritz. The dining room is truly beautiful and in the summer months, you can enjoy sitting in the hotels own Italian garden and terrace nestled in the centre of London.
If you have enjoyed Celebrity Come Dancing or the Foxtrot and the Waltz are in your blood, then Friday and Saturday nights at The Ritz are for you. Dine in the restaurant and, after your meal, dance the night away to the four piece band.
The food served in the restaurant is classical with contemporary influences. The menu changes with the seasons and the restaurant uses the “Best of British” produce.
If there is no time for lunch or diner at The Ritz then consider making a date for one of their legendary afternoon teas served in the Palm Court. You do need to plan ahead though – afternoon tea is usually booked up around 6 weeks in advance.
For a very different experience outside of central London, visit BB’s Crabback in Ealing - the home of award winning Caribbean food. Here you can sample the rich, spicy and colourful culinary delights including BB’s Curried Caribbean Special consisting of tender goat meat cooked in curry and coconut milk and red snapper with a rich ratatouille sauce.
BB’s reputation has been enhanced by his rave reviews, winning the Critics Choice Award two years running and his television and radio appearances. Definitely a place to try.
Moving back into Central London – this time Chelsea – we find the acclaimed Tom Aikens Restaurant. This restaurant is stylish, modern and sophisticated. The list of awards gained by this restaurant is impressive:

If you enjoy the food and would like ideas on how to create delicious meals at home, you could take part in one of the restaurant’s special food demonstration courses based in the kitchen of the Chelsea restaurant. A chance for a real insight into the techniques used by the professionals. Call the restaurant for details on 020 7584 2003.
Caffe Uno has proved to be a popular chain of restaurants across the UK. There are two in London – Caffe Uno Tranquil Vale, Blackheath and Caffe Uno Charing Cross Road in Central London.
Caffe Uno offers a relaxed and informal atmosphere with a range of Italian dishes including pasta, pizza and grills. Light crunchy salads are available. Children and parties are welcome at Caffe Uno.
And finally a chance to dine in the City at the Refetorrio restaurant headed up by Michelin starred chef Giorgio Locatelli. The restaurant is located in the stylish and elegant Crowne Plaza Hotel on New Bridge Street in the heart of the City.
