Things To Do In Basingstoke
Basingstoke is a modern town in Hampshire which has shaken off its image as “Doughnut City” famous only for its large number of roundabouts. The town has excellent facilities, attractions and things to do for local residents, tourists and other visitors.
The biggest change in recent years has been the upgrading of the shopping centre to Festival Place. For decades the old shopping centre was open to the elements, soulless and dreary. In contrast, Festival Place is a modern centre which would hold its own in many towns and cities much larger than Basingstoke.
Festival Place has a large number of parking spaces and is close to the railway station.
As well as shops, Festival Place also has a range of restaurants including Hees Chinese Restaurant Wagamama, Ciao Baby Cucina) and its own Vue Cinema.

The Leisure Park in Basingstoke is another major attraction with a wide range of leisure activities including:

Ice rink Planet Ice
The Aquadrome
Little Frankie’s Restaurant
Bowlplex Ten Pin Bowling Gala Bingo
Odeon Cinema

The Leisure Park is also home to the Milestone Museum – Hampshire’s Living History Museum. This museum is a network of streets with shops, a village green and even a pub... dating from Victorian times and the 1930s. It attracts visitors from across the South of England.
The Hampshire Farmers’ Market is also worth a visit. It is based in the older part of the town, known locally as the “Top of the Town”. Check their website for details of forthcoming markets.
If you are visiting Basingstoke other towns and cities within easy reach include Winchester, Newbury, Reading, Farnham and Guildford.
