Five Restaurants in Five Days – Bath, UK
Bath attracts more tourists then any other City in England other than London. Visitors marvel at the Roman Baths, enjoy the majestic Abbey and admire the classical beauty of The Royal Crescent. Then they need to eat!

As a result, for a city with a population of only around 85,000 people, Bath has a fantastic array of restaurants from which to choose.

For visitors and locals alike such a wide range of restaurants can make choosing difficult. So we have drawn up with a list of 5 restaurants for you to enjoy.

Day 1

The Hole in the Wall is based on George Street within easy reach of The Circus, the Roman Baths and the Museum of Costume. Over the years, It has developed a reputation for nurturing talented chefs. Under new ownership, executive chef Gerry Dowd is enjoying the challenge of creating a modern British menu featuring West Country produce. Gerry Dowd’s experience is extensive. He has worked with top chefs including John Burton-Race at L’Ortalan, Richard Shepherd at Odins, the Roux brothers at The Waterside Inn in Bray and Peter Chandler at the Paris House.

Lunch, pre-theatre suppers and dinner are available at the restaurant which provides both the opportunity for friendly local dining as well as a venue for special occasions.

The wine list is extensive and chosen by Guy Adams of local wine merchant Heritage Wine. It provides options for all palates within a broad range of prices.

Day 2

Next stop is The Green Park Brasserie & Bar. Whatever the time of day, you will find a warm welcome and great food. The restaurant opens at 10 am offering morning coffee, cakes and paninis, serves lunch, snacks during the afternoon, a fixed price early diners menu and then a full a la carte menu in the evening. Be warned, however, The Brasserie is not open at present on a Sunday or Monday.

The Brasserie is located in a lovingly restored building which was formerly the old booking hall of Green Park Station. The station closed in 1966 but the booking hall has found a new lease of life. Situated within a quarter of a mile from the City Centre, this restaurant is a popular destination for tourists and locals.

Day 3

Day three offers Italian food at Bottelino’s. Papa Guiseppe opened his first Italian restaurant over 20 years and the chain (Bath and Bristol) has developed a fine reputation for producing high quality Italian food from the finest ingredients. Authentic pasta imported from Italy, fresh herbs and traditional recipes combine to create Italian food which has been enjoyed by diners spanning three decades. Whether you are looking for pasta, pizza or other traditional Italian dishes, Bottelino’s is a great place to eat.

The restaurant can be found at 5 Bladud Buildings – a short stroll from the Royal Crescent.

Day 4

It is just possible that you are feeling rather full! So to lighten the load, the next stop is at Loch Fyne for seafood. Hot and cold dishes including succulent oysters, mussels and traditionally smoked salmon are available. If you prefer non-fish dishes, there are always vegetarian options on the menu and for meat lovers the Glen Gyne prime sirloin steak is a particular favourite.

Loch Fyne in Bath is based on Milsom Street close to the Museum of Costume in an impressive building with grand columns and lofty ceilings.

Day 5

You are now on the home straight – only one more eatery to visit. It’s a great choice. Caffe Uno offers a friendly and lively atmosphere. There are special party menus if your group is large and children are always welcome.

The food is based on Italian recipes from steaming bowls of pasta with aromatic sauces and delicious pizzas, to freshly prepared grilled specialities and light crunchy salads.

Caffe Uno is located in The Empire, Grand Parade.
